On The Fly - Mobile Bicycle Repair
Herron Memorial Ride

Join us October 14 in Lincoln Park to commemorate the lives of pedestrians and bicyclists who have been killed in traffic in Northeast Illinois.

The Third Annual Herron Memorial Ride and Walk is a family-themed, donation-based event that supports the unique, educational after-school Build and Ride program for at-risk Chicago Public Schools students. Donations can also be directed toward Drive with Care, a campaign to stigmatize and stop reckless driving.

For the past two years, the Herron Memorial Ride and Walk has gathered bicyclists and walkers to raise public awareness of the tragedy of pedestrian and bicycling deaths, and to transform that tragedy into something that can help build the community and manage grief. In 2006, the second annual Herron Bike & Walk drew people from around the country and partnered with the Park District's Green Deeds program to plant a symbolic apple serviceberry tree in Lincoln Park near the North Avenue pedestrian bridge.

Help build a legacy of safe youth bicycling. Donate to the Dick Herron Memorial Fund by calling or e-mailing Arline Welty, director of development, at 312-427-3325, ext. 237.
